The four hour drive north takes you up the Sunshine Coast, a beautiful stretch of beaches and
coastal suburbs that are well worth a stopover to break up your journey. You cant miss
Australia World on your left, where the large cartoon-like Ettamogah Pub towers over the road.
Stop here for a hearty meal or a drink, and let the kids play on some of the rides and
attractions. If you are after some fresh sea air, then call in at Noosa Heads or Maroochydore
for a swim and a suntan on their stunning beaches. Chances are you will be tempted to spend
the night, and if you do there are plenty of caravan parks you can take your pick from. For more information on the Sunshine Coast, visit this

Upon reaching Hervey Bay you will be enamoured by this quaint town with its calm waters and
relaxed lifestyle. It is easy to see why this is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. It
is also known as the whale watching capital of the country because the annual humpback
whale migration brings pods of these magnificent creatures close to these shores. There are
tours available to get you up close and personal to the whales, so if the season is right then
don't miss this fantastic opportunity. Excellent fishing and a multitude of sight seeing tours are
sure to keep you entertained.
The ferry to Fraser Island leaves from Hervey Bay, but bear in mind that only 4WD campervans
are able to make the trip across, due to all the roads being sand based. One of the most
popular attractions in Queensland, Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and
one of the most beautiful places you are likely to visit in your life. Much of the driving is done
on the beaches, and you are able to choose to camp wherever takes your fancy. In the centre
of the island there are sparkling blue fresh water lakes surrounded by green forest, and
everywhere you drive you are met by scenic views and the beauty of nature in its purest form.
Amazing sunsets are part and parcel of your holiday here- a holiday which you will never want
to end.
