Insurance & Liability Reduction Options

This page is a summary of each Companies Standard Liability. This amount is what you would be liable to pay in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental.

Liability Reduction Options

The Standard Liability can be reduced either -

At time of Booking

  • By opting for the Stress Free Package. This package has the lowest level of liability and includes bonus items.

At time of Pick Up

  • By choosing one of the Liability Reduction Options (LRO)

Security Bonds

All branches take a Security Bond at the beginning of the rental. The amount of this bond is dependant on if you take out Liability Reduction and which option you take. Please be aware that the new trend is a credit card surcharge of between 1.75% and 5% on the amount paid on pickup, including the refundable bond.

Travel Insurance

Even if you do reduce your liability we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance before you leave home, for total peace of mind. Insurance policies cover cancellation fees, medical expenses, baggage and much more.

Apollo

Standard Liability

All Apollo vehicles include a Standard Liability of $7,500. The bond will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card and will be debited to the credit card immediately.

The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following:

AutoRent Hertz

Standard Liability

All AutoRent Hertz Campers vehicles come with Comprehensive Insurance Cover. A Standard Liability of $5,000 applies in the event of any damage to either the vehicle.

In addition to the standard liability there is an additional AU$4,900 liability fee ($9,900 total) if an accident occurs on an unsealed road or overhead damage occurs by failing to clear low objects. This is not able to be reduced.

Unsealed Roads: Regardless of fault, the hirers liability will be up to a maximum of AU$9,900 if there is any damage or loss on an unsealed road.

Overhead Damage: Regardless of fault, the renter remains liable up to a maximum of AU$9,900 whether the overhead damage is incurred on a sealed, or an unsealed road.

The liability for overhead damage or damage on unsealed roads remains, even if the sealed road liability has been reduced to $0.

The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following:

Backpacker

Standard Liability

All Vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first AU$3,500 for the Breezer, Nomad and Wanderer Campervans or AU$5,000 for the Off-Roader 4WD, of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break in or vandalism with the exception of the exclusions. This also includes the cost of the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).

The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following:

Tyre and Windscreen Cover

If this optional extra is purchased it will cover the hirer for unlimited accidental damage to the windscreen and tyres . The cover is only available when Liability Reduction 2 has been purchased.

Standard Liability

The hirer is responsible for the first AU$7,500 of ANY ACCIDENT COST of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break in or vandalism.

This also includes the cost of the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).

4WD Easy Cover Option

The 4WD Easy Cover Option is a one off fee of AU$250 per hire. This option is only available with 4WD hires and when Liability Reduction Option 2 or the Stress Free Package has been purchased.

The 4WD Easy Cover Option extends the cover available with Liability Reduction Option 2 or Stress Free Package for 4WDs to include AU$0 liability, cover for accidental damage to the overhead and underbody sections of the 4WD vehicle (this does not include single vehicle roll-over), unlimited tyre and windscreen cover and towing and vehicle recovery costs from 4WD roads where permission from Britz is required to travel in advance (see road restrictions section for a list of these roads). Clients requiring vehicle towing and vehicle recovery in the event of not having this cover irrespective of the Liability Reduction Cover option or the Stress Free Package the customer may have.

Camperman

Insurance Liability

An Insurance Liability / Security Credit Card Swipe of AUD$500.00 for 21 plus years and $2,500 for 19-20 year olds will be taken at the point of pick up. This payment will not be processed but will be held as Bond. This is in conjunction with the full terms and conditions provided on your rental agreement on pickup of your vehicle.

The hirer is responsible for the first AU$500 ($2,500 if 19-20yrs) of ANY ACCIDENT COST for damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle. Including any Tyre and Windscreen damage.

Cheapa Campas rental charge includes a Standard Liability of $2,700 for 2 Berth vehicles and $5,000 for 4WD, 3 ,4 & 6 Berth. The bond will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The amount above will be debited to the credit card account immediately.

Standard Liability

CTM rental charge includes a Standard Liability of $5,000. In addition to the Liability an administration fee of $75 will be charged per claim.

A Bond of $5,000 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The $5,000 will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.
