This page is a summary of the Campervan Companies Standard Liability. This amount is what you would be liable to pay in the event of an accident of damage to the vehicle.
You are able to reduce this amount in either one of two ways as follows -
- When making your booking, opt for the Stress Free Package, whereby your excess has already been reduced and includes some bonus features
OR
- Choose one of the Excess Reduction Options below at time of pick up

Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of Travel Insurance, regardless if you take the Excess Reduction.
Apollo
Standard Liability
Apollos rental charge includes a Standard Liability of $7,500. The bond will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The amount above will be debited to the credit card account immediately.

AutoRent Hertz (Available Tasmania only)
Standard Liability
All AutoRent Hertz Campers vehicles come with comprehensive insurance cover. A standard excess of $5,000 applies in the event of any damage to either our vehicle or third party property. In addition to the standard liability there is a $2,500 ($4,900 from 1st April 2010) excess ($7,500 total or $9,900 from 1st April 2010) if an accident occurs on an unsealed road or overhead damage occurs by failing to clear low objects. This is not able to be removed.
The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following Reduction Options:

Backpacker
Standard Liability
All Vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first AU$2,900 (AU$3500 from 01/04/2010)for the Breezer, Nomad and Wanderer campervans or AU$5,000 for the Off-Roader 4WD of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break in or vandalism with the exception of the exclusions. This also includes the cost of the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).
The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if Backpacker is successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. (this can take months)
The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental.
This Standard Excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of the Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2. Note Excess Reduction 2 is included in the Stress free Package:
Excess Reduction Option 1
The hirer is responsible for the first AU$1450 (AU$1500 from 01/04/2010) for Breezer, Nomad, and Wanderer and the first AU$2500 for the Off-Roader 4WD of any accident cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs,theft, fire, break in or vandalism with the exception of the exclusions. Includes demurage.
Excess Reduction Option 2:
When Excess reduction 2 has been purchased, the hirer will have no excess at all for 2WD vehicles with the exception of the exclusions
If the vehicle is a 4WD the hirer will be responsible for the first AU$440 ($0 from 01/04/2010)of the cost of any damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs,theft, fire, break in or vandalism with the exception of the exclusions. Includes demurage.
NOTE: Excess Reduction Option 2 is included in the Stress Free Package

The No Worries cover option is a one off fee of AU$50 per hire for 2WD vehicles and AU$120 for 4WD vehicles. The cover is only available when excess reduction 2 has been purchased.
Note the no worries cover option is included in the Stress Free Package.
With the no worries cover option, the hirer will not have to pay any excess at all for any damage to the vehicle or property of a third party with the exception of the exclusions. This will include accidental overhead or underbody damage to the vehicle. Please note overhead and underbody damage cover is excluded unless the no worries cover option has been purchased.

Tyre and Windscreen Cover:(Available from 01/04/2010)
The Tyre and Windscreen Cover option is a daily fee of AU$5 (max charge AU$250) for 2WD vehicles and AU$8 (max charge AU$400) for 4WD vehicles. This will cover the Hirer for unlimited accidental damage to the windscreen and tyres . The cover is only available when excess reduction 2 has been purchased.

No Worries Cover (PCO):
Where No Worries is taken out with Britz at a flat rate of AU$50 per rental ($120 for 4WD) in addition to Excess Reduction Option 2, the hirer will not have to pay any excess at all for any damage to the vehicle or property of a third party. AND you are covered for accidental overhead and underbody damage.
Note: The No Worries Cover will not be available after 31 March 2010.

All KEA Campers vehicles come with comprehensive insurance cover. A standard excess of $7,500 applies in the event of any damage to either our vehicle or third party property. The renter will also be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres.

Camperman
Insurance Excess
Camperman Only have a Stress Free Package. An Insurance Excess / Security Credit Card Swipe of AUD$500.00 for 21 plus years and $1500 for 18-20 year olds will be taken at the point of pick up.This payment will not be processed but will be held as Bond.
This is in conjunction with the full terms and conditions provided on your rental agreement on pickup of your vehicle.
The hirer is responsible for the first AU$500 ($1500 if 18-20yrs) of ANY ACCIDENT COST for damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle. Including any Tyre and Windscreen damage.
Security Bonds
All Suppliers do take a Security Bond at the beginning of the rental,
the amount of this bond is dependent on if you take out Excess Reduction and which option you take. Please be aware that the new trend is a credit card surcharge of between 1.75% and 5% on the amount paid on pickup, including the refundable bond.
