Standard Liability
This page is a summary of each Companies Standard Liability.
Liability is the amount you would be liable to pay in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental
Liability Reduction Options
The Standard Liability can be reduced either -
At the time of Booking by opting for the Stress Free Package. This package has the lowest level of liability and includes bonus items.
At the time of Pick Up by choosing one of the Liability Reduction Options (LRO)

In addition to the standard liability there is an additional AU$4,900 liability fee ($9,900 total) if an accident occurs on an unsealed road or overhead damage occurs by failing to clear low objects. This is not able to be reduced.
Unsealed Roads: Regardless of fault, if there is an accident, damage or loss on an unsealed road , the hirers liability will be up to a maximum of AU$9,900. If they reduce their sealed road liability to $0, then a maximum of $9900 will remain for loss/damage/accidents on unsealed roads.
Overhead Damage: Regardless of fault, the renter remains liable up to a maximum of AU$9,900 whether the overhead damage is incurred on a sealed, or an unsealed road.

Additional Protection Coverage - Where the hirer purchases Additional Protection Coverage the cost of damage resulting from a single vehicle roll over will be covered. Additional Protection Coverage can only be purchased in conjunction with Liability Reduction Option 2 or the Stress Free Package.
Tyre and Windscreen Cover
If this optional extra is purchased it will cover the hirer for unlimited accidental damage to the windscreen and tyres . The cover is only available when Liability Reduction 2 has been purchased.

4WD Easy Cover Option
The 4WD Easy Cover Option is a one off fee of AU$250 per hire. This option is only available with 4WD hires and when Liability Reduction Option 2 or the Stress Free Package has been purchased.

4WD Easy Cover Option
The 4WD Easy Cover Plus Option is a one off fee of AU$350 per hire. The 4WD Easy Cover Plus Option is only available when Liability Reduction Option 2 or the Stress Free Package has been purchased.

Additional Protection Coverage - Where the hirer purchases Additional Protection Coverage the cost of damage resulting from a single vehicle roll over will be covered. Additional Protection Coverage can only be purchased in conjunction with Liability Reduction Option 2 or the Stress Free Package.
Tyre and Windscreen Damage Cover - The Hirer is responsible for the first $7500.00 of the cost of damaged windscreen & tyres unless LR01 is purchased where responsibility is reduced to $2500.00. Where a NIL liability is present unlimited windscreen and tyres will be covered for accidental damage.

Stress Free Package includes two tyres, one front windscreen and one side/rear glass. Stress Free & Midway Protection is payable to a maximum of 50 days.
Note: If no additional coverage, windscreen chips are charged at $60 each. Any more than 3 chips will result in a windscreen replacement charge of $300.
Please note: Personal items are not covered under vehicle damage protection cover. We recommend you do not leave your valuables in your vehicle because of possible theft.We strongly recommend that all hirers take out their own premium travel insurance.
Security Bonds
All branches take a Security Bond at the beginning of the rental. The amount of this bond is dependent on if you take out Liability Reduction and which option you take. Please be aware that there is a credit card surcharge of between 1.75% and 5% on the amount paid on pickup, including the refundable bond.
Travel Insurance
Even if you do reduce your liability we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance before you leave home, for total peace of mind. Insurance policies cover cancellation fees, medical expenses, baggage and much more.
