The fertile valley is well known for its wineries, and there are over forty cellar doors
where you can stop in, sample the local produce and buy some world class wine at an
affordable price. This area is not known as the "Valley of Taste" for nothing, as there
are plenty of farms making fresh produce that supports the numerous fine dining
restaurants in the Valley. There are also beer breweries and spirit distilleries here, or for
something completely different visit the local chocolate factory or ice creamery. The
Swan Valley is not exactly suited to dieting, but hey, you're on holiday so why not
indulge a little?!
Guildford will be the first town that you reach in your camper, and take a couple of
hours here to browse the streets and peruse some of the oldest buildings in Australia,
many of them dating back to 1840. Guildford is also known for its antique furniture
stores, so to fulfil your little journey to the past have a look in one of these unique
shops. The town is surrounded by the Swan and Helena Rivers, and there are plenty of
walking opportunities down the leafy banks of these rivers. Horse riding tours are also
available, and are especially moving at sunrise or sunset when the sun sits low in the
sky and the cool breeze blows off the river surface.
