Sydney Touring Ideas: The Hawkesbury Valley

The bright lights of Sydney attract tourists from all over the globe like moths to a flame. This
beautiful and diverse city has it all, from international icons such as the Opera House and the
Harbour Bridge to pristine white beaches bordering its entire length. A must see for any visitor
to Australia, Sydney is an exciting and interesting city that has to be experienced to be

With so much on offer within such a close distance its difficult to choose where to go in this
part of New South Wales. One popular option, and for good reason, is to head towards the
peaceful hills and green meadows of the Hawkesbury Valley. The Hawkesbury River that runs
through this valley is navigable for over 100 kilometres, and is surrounded by National Parks.
There are lots of campsites up its length, so a great idea is to park your campervan at one of
these sites and enjoy the serene beauty of the river. Rent a canoe or a kayak and see if you are
any match for the large populations of fish under the surface.
Most of the valley is National Park, and the thick forests provide some awesome bushwalking
experiences. Historically the Hawkesbury region is seen as the main supplier of produce to the
state's capital, so there are many farms out here that provide all sorts of fresh goods such as
fruits, vegetables and honey. Stop in at the friendly farms, be made to feel right at home and
drive away with some fresh country ware. The combination of rustic farm life and stunning

To get to the valley from Sydney will take just over an hour in one of our hire campers, but once
