Conditions for Campervan & Motorhome Rental (Australia)
Valid from March 2017

Summary of Rental Conditions

This document contains a brief summary of our rental conditions. Rates quoted are in Australian dollars.

Public Holiday Surcharge

All rentals picking up or dropping off on the following days will incur an additional $100 public holiday surcharge. Surcharge only applies to branches open on the following public holidays;

- Good Friday 

- Anzac Day (25th April)

- Boxing Day (26 December each year)

- New Year’s Day (1st January each year)

- Australia Day (26th January each year)

After Hours Pick Up

After hours pick up will only be allowed at all branches. Renters that wish to collect after hours or on a Sunday when the office is closed must take the Stress Free Insurance Package and contact Cruisin’ at least 7 days before pick up to organise the paperwork.

Late Pick Up Penalty

Late pick up refers to instances where renters originally booked to pick up the vehicle within branch operation hours and failed to pick up during the specified operation hours. Late pick up is not available in Sydney or the Gold Coast. Any renters picking up late without prior organisation must pay the following penalties  If no prior arrangements are made the depot closes at 4.30 pm

Renters picking up from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm will pay a late fee of $40

Renters picking up from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm will pay a late fee of $80

Late pick up is not available after 6:30 pm

Late Drop Off Penalty

Renters returning late will be charged a fee of $45 an hour for the first two hours they are late. After this period the customer will pay $150 per day plus a full day’s rental and insurance for each day until the vehicle is returned. These charges will be applied to the credit card on file on a daily basis.

Rental Charges

Rentals are charged per calendar day.

Early Bird Discount

An Early Bird discount of 5% off the daily rental rate will apply to rentals that commence 125 days after the date of booking.

Long Term Discounts

  • 21-34 days – 5% off daily rental rates
  • 35-49 days - 10% off daily rental rates

Multiple Rentals

Consecutive Cruisin rentals can be combined to qualify for a Long Term Discount rate. If a drop off of a vehicle and a pick up of a new vehicle occur on the same day then a day each will be charged per respective vehicle. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the one way fee and minimum rental period conditions.

Transfer

It is the renters responsibility to get to and from the branch.

Pick Up and Drop Off Locations

Vehicles must be returned to Cruisin’ depots and not airports. Transfers to and from the Cruisin’ depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch. No refund will be offered to compensate transportation costs.

Kilometers

Rates include unlimited kilometres.

Administration Fees - Taxes

Rates include 10% GST.

Credit Card Surcharge - At the Depot

We only accept Visa, MasterCard and AMEX . An additional 2% surcharge will be incured on any transaction. AMEX will incur an additional 4.5% surcharge on any transaction.

Credit Card Surcharge -Discovery Rentals

Discovery Rentals DO NOT CHARGE credit card fees if using a Visa or MasterCard, however American Express will incur a fee of 2.75% surcharge.

Exchange Rate - Currency Variations

All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. We do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 15 working days depending on the renters Financial Institution.

Hobart

- Minimum hire requirement of 5 days.

- 10 day minimum applies for pick up 26 December until 10 January each year.

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 11 January until 28 February each year.

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 10 April 2017 until 16 April 2017

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 26 March 2018 until 01 April 2018

Brisbane

- Minimum hire requirement of 5 days.

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 22 March 2017 until 26 March 2017

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 10 April 2017 until 16 April 2017

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 19 July 2017 until 23 July 2017 (Splendour in the Grass)

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 2 October 2017 until 7 October 2017

- 10 day minimum applies for pick up 21 December until 10 January each year.

- 7 day minimum applies for pick up 26 March 2018 until 01 April 2018

 

Sydney

- Minimum hire requirement of 7 days.

- 10 day minimum applies for pick up 2 October 2017 until 7 October 2017.

- 10 day minimum applies for pick up 21 December  to 10 January each year

 

Melbourne

- Minimum hire requirement of 7 days.

- 10 day minimum applies for pick up 16 October 2017 until 21 October 2017.

- 10 day minimum applies for pick up 21 December  to 10 January each year

 

Cairns

- Minimum hire requirement of 10 days.

One Way Rentals

are available between all branches subject to the minimum rental periods. A one way fee of $260 applies. The one way fee is waived for each rental over 21+ days.

Drivers Licence and Minimum Age

All renters are required to have a full and current motor vehicle driver’s license that must be produced by the driver on collection. Should a foreign licence be in a language other than English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.

Drivers must be 21 years of age or over and 79 or under.

Extra Driver Fees

There are no fees for additional drivers up to two drivers.

Road Restrictions

All Cruisin campervans and motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads of less than eight (8) kilometres to recognised campgrounds.

General Equipment

Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary equipment dustpan/brush, fire extinguisher, bucket, hose, broom and power lead.

Kitchen and Personal Kits

Each vehicle is supplied with living equipment (such as cooking equipment, utensils, bath and tea towels and bedding). All equipment must be returned in working order.

Maps and Campground Guides

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Road Atlas. A campground guide can be offered at selected branches.

Vehicle Consultation

On pick up of the vehicle Cruisin’ staff will provide a vehicle consultation. This is in the form of an audio visual guide that includes an explanation of all interior and exterior features of the vehicle as well as driving tips and recommendations.

Vehicle Length

When booking campsites and ferry crossings, Cruisin’ recommends making a reservation for a 7.3 metre vehicle due to the possibility of an upgrade.

LP Gas

A pre-hire gas refill charge of $25 applies for all 2 and 3 berth vehicles and $35 for all 4 and 6 berth vehicles. Agents must now sell the gas refill as part of the booking. The renter is not required to re-fill prior to return. This does not apply to customers who have purchased the Stress Free Pack.

Child Restraints

Baby Seats

Baby seats suitable for children 6 months to 4 years of age can be fitted to the Motorhome Range. Cost is AU$35 per rental. Baby seats cannot be fitted in a Hitop Campervan, 2 Berth Adventurer or 2 Berth Sandpiper Motorhomes. Children under 6 months of age cannot be accommodated in any of the vehicles.

Booster Seats

A booster seat suitable for a child between 4 and 7 years of age can be supplied for the vehicle range. Cost is $35 each per rental. The booster seats can legally be fitted to all vehicles. Cruisin’ does not recommend fitting them to the Hi-Top, or the 2 Berth Sandpiper

Listed below are the additional products that are available for hire from our branches (subject to availability).

  • $90 flat - Windscreen and Tyre Cover (included in the Maximum Cover Package)

Rental Extension

If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Cruisin Motorhomes Reservations who will advise of the additional costs. Rental extension is subject to fleet availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone. Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the rental rate.

Repairs

Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to AU$100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed at the end of your rental. All vehicles are enrolled with RAC 24hr emergency roadside assistance.

Infringements and Administration Costs

Cruisin Motorhomes reserves the right to charge the renter for any speeding, toll way or parking fines. In addition to these costs, CM reserves the right to charge for associated administration costs for processing the fines. An administration fee of AU$55.00 per fine will be applicable. r. This fee will be applicable per offence.

Change Of Vehicle

Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to a refund.

Limit of Liability

In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.

Change of Drop Off Destination

All renters must first obtain authorisation from Cruisin’ before changing the drop off destination after the rental period has already commenced. Subject to change being approved, a minimum additional charge of $700 will apply

Vehicle Category

Vehicles can only be requested by the vehicle category and not by make or model.

Voluntary Downgrades

Should you choose to rent a lesser vehicle than previously booked within 21 days of pick up or during the rental then they will not be entitled to a refund.

Important

We reserve the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.

Animals

No animals are permitted in the vehicles, excluding guide dogs.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in the vehicles. Heavy penalties apply to any vehicle found with a trace of smoke.

Cancellation & Amendments

FREE cancellation on all bookings up to 45 days prior to pick-up - Valid for new bookings from 1st April 2016

In the case of cancelling your reservation, the deposit is Non Refundable. In addition there is a AU$100 cancellation fee. A No Show is considered as a cancellation.

Amendments are charged at a rate of AU$50 per change. This applies but is not limited to changing the client name, vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing the pickup dates or locations. No refund given on the initial deposit paid.

If an amendment is made to the rental whereby the length of hire is shortened, no refund will be given on the initial deposit amount nor can it be transferred to the balance payable on pick up. In addition, if an amendment is made inside 14 days of pick up, the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked. A relocation fee may also apply if the collection or return location is amended.

Where the hire is being extended, the amendment fee will not apply.

Please note that amendments may result in the daily rental rate to be recalculated at the rate applicable on the date of the amendment for the entire rental period.

PROTECTION PACKAGE

The Vehicle has third party insurance cover. It is likely that any other vehicle involved in an accident also has third party insurance cover. Depending on the circumstances of the accident, the renter may be entitled to claim for the personal injury against the third party insurance of the party responsible for the accident. The extent of such third party insurance varies in different States and Territories and CTM strongly recommends that all passengers take out their own Personal Injury Travel Insurance.

If the renter is responsible for the accident the Vehicles third party insurance should cover the renter for the liability except where the renter has committed a breach of the Vehicles third party insurance, eg drink driving.

Property Damage

The Vehicle is insured for damage to it or damage to the property of a third party. However the renter is responsible up to the amount of the applicable Liability for the cost of such damage to third party property, or to the rented vehicle. The Liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental. In addition to the Liability an administration fee of AU$75 will be charged per claim.

The Liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported to CM, not at the completion of the rental period. CM reserves the right to charge the renter for any vehicle damage including Third Party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle.

Standard Liability

CM rental charge includes a Standard Liability of AU$5,000.

A Bond of AU$5,000 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The $5000 will be debited to the credit card account immediately. A non refundable administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following Liability Reduction Options (LRO) -

Liablity Reduction Option

A liability of AU$0 applies. This option can be purchased by paying to CM $45 per day. A Bond of AU$0 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. This Bond is payable to CM by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorisation obtained (sufficient funds must be available) for AU$0. This includes demurrage.

Stress Free Package

The Stress Free Package is an 'All Inclusive Package' which includes LRO, GPS, Camp Chairs & Table, Baby &|or Booster Seats Windscreen and Tyre damage and the LP Gas Refill Fee.

A liability of AU$0 applies. This option can only be purchased at the time of booking at a cost of $55 per day. A Bond of AU$0 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. This Bond is payable to CM by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorisation obtained (sufficient funds must be available) for AU$0. This includes demurrage.

Bond

For security purposes, only a credit card can be used to provide a bond. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Bond upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle.

The Bond (but not the additional administration fee) is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the correct location on time, is full of fuel and all other terms of the Rental Contract have been complied with. If there is damage to the vehicle on its return, the Bond will be used to cover the cost of such damage up to the amount of the relevant Liability. However, if the terms of the Rental Contract are breached and the Bond is insufficient to cover the damage then any cost will be charged.

Windscreen and Tyre Cover

This is an additional cover package. A $90 once off fee applies prior to or on pick up of the vehicle and covers the renter for any accidental damage to the windscreen and tyres. This is an additional cover and can be purchased with standard liability or any reduction options. Windscreen refers to all glass on the vehicle. (Included in the stress free package)

Delivery & Return of Vehicle

The Customer acknowledges having received the Vehicle in a clean condition, with a full fuel tank and a full gas bottle. Penalties will apply to vehicles where these requirements are not met.

Full Responsibility

At all times the renter is responsible for:

  • Damage caused where the terms of Rental Contract have been breached
  • Damage caused by negligence
  • Damage caused to the Vehicle in any way by part or total water submersion or salt water
  • Damage caused due to a single vehicle roll over, except where the Maximum Cover Package has been purchased
  • Damage caused to the Vehicle by the renters wilful conduct
  • Damage caused to the Vehicle when using the Vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic
  • Damage or loss caused to any personal belongings
  • Damage caused due to use of incorrect or contaminated fuel
  • Damage to the awning
  • Damage to the slide out room
  • Damages to the windscreen - includes all glass windows (unless Windscreen & Tyre Cover purchased)
  • Damage to the overhead or underbody of the vehicle
  • Damage to tyres (unless Windscreen & Tyre Cover purchased)
  • Damage caused to the vehicle due to collision with an animal.

Airport Access Fees

An airport concession fee of AU$16.50 will apply for hires with pick-up at Hobart Airport.

Rates/Terms/Conditions

Are subject to change without notice. However (subject to changes in legislation or errors) will not alter rates or conditions applicable to your rental once your booking has been confirmed. Any booking amendments will result in the rate booked being re-calculated at the rate applicable on the date of amendment. Please note all prices are quoted and payable in Australian dollars.

Use of the vehicle The Customer agrees that, during the Rental Period, the Customer will not allow the Vehicle to be: driven otherwise than in a prudent and cautious manner. A single Vehicle rollover is considered a breach of this condition and the Customer will be responsible for the first AU$5,000 (except where the Maximum Cover Package has been purchased) of the cost of damage regardless of fault. The AU$5,000 is debited from the Customers credit card immediately upon notification of accident. A single Vehicle rollover may include, but is not limited to, a Vehicle that has rolled, tipped or fallen over and this has caused damage to the side and/or roof area of the Vehicle; driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law; left with the ignition key in the Vehicle while it is unoccupied; damaged by: submersion in water contact with salt water creek or river crossing driving through flooded areas beach driving used for any illegal purpose or in any race, rally or contest; used to tow any vehicle or trailer; used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward; used to carry more persons than is permitted by any relevant authority or detailed in the Vehicle manual or on the Vehicle or specified in this Agreement; used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material; and vehicles are not to be used for the purpose of transporting and haulage of goods other than what might be reasonably expected of a leisure rental.

Road restrictions apply as follows: 2WD vehicles must not be used on any unsealed road (being a road not sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete). Off road conditions include, but are not limited to: fire trails, beaches, sand & tracks.
