Just a stones throw south of Melbourne, this small region has everything you would ever want
in a holiday, and best of all each attraction is just around the corner from the next. The
Mediterranean feel of this region will make you think you have left Australia, even though you
are just an hour out of Melbourne. Olive groves and wineries blend into trendy towns with
cosmopolitan cafes and numerous restaurants, which all adds to the reputation of the
peninsula as a leading proponent of fine dining. Read this article for a

Especially famous for its beaches, if you are a fan of watersports then you will not leave
Mornington disappointed. One side of the Peninsula is sheltered from the ocean waves, so the
beaches are peaceful and calm and perfect for swimming. There are numerous camping sites
here where you can park your motorhome for a night or two and enjoy the calm seaside. The
other side of the Peninsula is exposed to the oceans forces, and as a result there are some
spectacular surfing beaches there. All levels of surfer are catered to, so even if you are just a
beginner you will find some swell to suit your skills. Of course surfing is not the only
watersport here, you can fish, sail, windsurf or even go for a swim with the dolphins.
Inland you will find a host of orchards and vineyards, and you can visit these and buy their
fresh produce. Have a meal in one of the vineyard restaurants that overlook the blue waters of
Port Philip Bay and Western Port Bay, and then explore some of the historic home and
gardens that have been attracting artists for centuries. There are camping grounds for
motorhomes around these inland areas, so if you fancy a break from the beach then park off in
one of these for a couple of days. Mornington is the kind of place you will never want to leave,
