Australia Touring Ideas: Western Australia
The western state of our continent is the largest one, although most of the activity here is centred around the capital, Perth. And what a beautiful city it is, built on the wide and smooth Swan River and lined by some of the whitest beaches and bluest seas the country has to offer. But while you should definitely check Perth out, don't be lulled into spending your whole holiday here- this state has so much more to offer. So pick up one of our cheap rental camper vans and head out on a journey of discovery that you will remember for the rest of your life. Here are some ideas on where to go.
Drive south for three hours to reach the lush wine country of Margaret River. Green farmlands and lush river valleys will be the setting for this trip, so park your camper van next to one of the picturesque rivers and forget about all your worries. Sample some of the fine produce from the sixty plus wineries that flourish here, and tuck into some of the delicious country fare at the many restaurants dotted around. The beaches of Margaret River are renowned as surfing hotspots and attract competitors from all over the globe. The waves cater to all skill levels so even if your a beginner you can give it a go.

For a longer trip that takes you in completely the opposite direction from Perth, head north to the world heritage listed coastline of Monkey Mia. This 10 hour drive takes you up some stunning coastline, and you can break your trip with a night or two in Geraldton. Monkey Mia is famous for its unique bottlenose dolphins that come in close to shore and frolic with people swimming on the beach. A truly amazing experience that is worth the long drive! But that isnt all there is to offer here, an array of animal and birdlife attracts nature lovers from all over the globe, and superb snorkelling and fishing means you will never be bored. The town of Denham provides numerous accommodation options and plenty tours and activities.

For a taste of the real outback you could head eastwards from Perth towards the mining centre of Kalgoorlie. This is one of Western Australia's most prosperous towns, and as a result there are many activities you can do here. There are lots of ideas for day trips to surrounding regions so you can fulfil your outback experience. Accommodation choices abound, from the cheap to the luxurious, so settle back and enjoy your stay!
