What is one hidden gem of a destination well worth visiting?

Our Number one Hidden Gem destination that we share with every traveller that we meet is Wollongong New South Wales. Its the destination that gives you day access to Sydney, day trips down to Ulladulla, to weekends away free Camping at Meroo National Park, and is the ideal location for seeing more of Australia

From Wollongong you have access to Nowra, Berry, Kiama, Shellharbour, Mittagong, Bowral, Fitzroy Falls, Lake Tabourie, Mogo, Picton, Moss Vale, Blue Mountains, Cronulla and then to a magical camping weekend at Hill End Camp Grounds.

There are so many locations we visited that I am sure I have forgotten lots more! There is also the Canberra area which is a great weekend trip from Wollongong – like I said there are so many places!

The water down at Eden NSW will take your breath away. The bridge over to Tuross Head is so blue and clear it almost looks like something out of a Picture.

What do you find special about this place?

The area in Wollongong is only 1.5 Hours from Sydney, yet its still not over populated. You can walk along the beach at Shellharbour and enjoy the day down at Kiama without too many people. There is so much to see and do, we spent 2 years exploring the area and we still didn’t cover all of it. I think that you could spend at least another 2 years in the area and still find something different/new to explore. The water down at Eden NSW will take your breath away. The bridge over to Tuross Head is so blue and clear it almost looks like something out of a Picture.

We love that there are many places to Free Camp, many places for day trips or for weekends away, to camping for weeks on end. We love that the people down there don’t realise how beautiful Wollongong is and we share with the locals where we have been and they can’t wait to get out there and explore it as well. We love the ocean, the inland and many places in between. Driving down roads, going around a bend to discover another view that is something out of this world. A lot of travellers Love Queensland {and we do too} but we left a bit of our heart behind in Wollongong NSW, as it holds a special place for us all.

When is the best time of year to visit?

Anytime. Its cold in Winter – and we have spent time in the Snowy area of Thredbo and had the best time sliding down the snow on our back sides – we all got so wet and cold  but had the biggest smiles. If you wanted to explore Wollongong in the warmer months then we recommend doing NSW in the Summer and the Winter time in QLD. But if you really wanted to see more of the lower end of New South Wales then any time of the year is perfect – all you need is a “Winter Wardrobe” and a “Summer Wardrobe”.

Make 2016 the year you discover New South Wales, book now!
